Program notes:
These pieces are a set a improvisational etudes for practice outside
the non-jazz medium. The intention is to create an architectural
sound structure which the soloist fills. There is no intended
narrative, idea, or emotional evocation specifically associated with
the meditations, that is entirely brought by the soloist(s). To this
effect, the meditations are without name until the performers provide
one they believe fits what they have added to the piece. Each
meditation may also stand alone as a piece unto itself, in which case
my hope is that the listener will fill the architectural space with
whatever it is they wish to bring to the piece.
